Retail Employees Credit Union teamed up with their Macy’s members to volunteer at the Atlanta Food bank. They were in charge of inspecting food and verifying expiration dates. The assembled food baskets are distributed to homeless shelters, churches, and individuals of modest means. “One of the rewarding aspects of working for a credit union is the relationship we build with our members – we use the term “members” because it represents a person who is part of a community. As employees we are also part of the community we serve.” said Tamika Presley, “The volunteering effort at the Atlanta Community Food Bank was a wonderful experience. It allowed me to give back to my community, but the best part is what it gave back to me – a feeling of appreciation for all that I’m fortunate to have.” Lela Philips agreed “Volunteering at the food bank was a fun and fulfilling experience “.
