Member Letter to GEMC FCU

I want to brag a little about your Credit Union and its employees. First, in these economic times, GEMC didn't do as so many of the banks and credit unions did and raise their interest rates. In fact, if I remember correctly your interest rates didn't go up at all. I'm sure this has saved many of your customers from the foreclosures that the high interest rates at other financial institutions have caused on their Adjustable Rate Mortgages. I know that your policy on interest rates, certainly made me sleep a lot easier at night. That fact alone shows a loyal commitment to your customers.

In the past several weeks, I have used part of my equity loan to pay off my high interest credit cards. I mailed 3 checks to 3 separate credit card companies. 2 of the companies deposited the checks, thus paying off my balances. The 3rd check I sent, which was mailed on May 20, 2009 was never deposited. I called and spoke to the company, then mailed another check to them on June 22, 1009. It also was never deposited. I called your offices and while my loan representative was out of the office I spoke to someone else who was very helpful. I believe her name was Teresa, but I'm not sure. She told me they would put an alert on my equity account, so that both checks would not be paid. I then wrote another check, this time to myself and cashed it at your Dallas office to deposit in my regular checking account, so I could hopefully, finally pay off the credit card. I got a call this morning from Teresa, telling me that she had received the check I had written myself, and she was wanting approval to pay it. Of course I gave her the approval. When I received her call, I was very impressed. I didn't really know if after our conversation, it would be handled or not. So many companies will tell you they will handle your problem, but somehow they never do. This Lady is showing the same commitment to my business that your credit union showed by not raising their interest rates. Customer service really does matter to your company, and because of this we plan to remain loyal customers.

Lee and I are applying for the GEMC credit card, because it is almost impossible to live in today's society without one.
