Throughout the year, you will find that your Albany Federal Employees' Credit Union is
raising money for different organizations and thanks to you, your Albany Federal Employees'
Credit Union has been able to help those organizations do many good things.

Here in the United States, the month of April is set as our National Child Abuse Prevention
Month, but recently, an email has been going around on the internet in regards to the National
Child Abuse Week in Australia. I know we are not in Australia, but if you had the chance to see
the email, it may have made you realize what unfortunate things can and do happen to young
children not just in here in the United States, but all over the world.

Here at Albany Federal Employees' Credit Union, we have decided to select a local
organization that works with abused children and see what we can do to help.

Beginning on September 6th and continuing for one month, your Albany Federal Employees'
Credit Union will start working for someone a little closer to home. We will start collecting
donations of any dollar amount at all three of our locations for the Open Arms, Inc. here in
Albany so that we may help them purchase specific items that they are in need of.

Open Arms, Inc. works with children who have been abused in some way, whether physical
or physiological, and they help the children not only discuss what happened, but they also get the healing process started.

Open Arms, Inc. is unfortunately necessary for our community and due to the current
economic situation that not only our community is facing, but the entire country, this
organization is having to do the same work with less than half of the state grant money they
normally receive.

Open Arms, Inc. says Thank You!!

For the Albany Federal Employees' Credit Union members that missed us on WALB news Friday October 30, 2009, Open Arms Inc. would like to also thank you as well. From the beginning of September to the middle of October, Albany Federal Employees' Credit Union collected donations to help Open Arms, Inc. purchase jackets, blankets, and other items for several of the children they had in their care.

Open Arms, Inc. is an organization whose mission is to work with abused children in our local area. Some of these children have been physically and or mentally abused and they range in age of just a few months to young adults, but with the help of Open Arms, Inc. they are given the opportunity to start over.

So, thank you Albany Federal Employees' Credit Union members for donating what you could even during the tough economic times our country is in today.
