When to Call

Unless the person you need to speak to isn't in the office until the afternoon, it's best to call earlier in the day, before 11 a.m. Moving into the late afternoon, the media is at its busiest and most hectic time. Oftentimes, however, a concise e-mail sent to the reporter or editor is the best way to reach a journalist. State your request, pitch a story idea or confirm receipt of a news release.
