ONLINE TOOL HELPS MATCH POTENTIAL MEMBERS
WITH GEORGIA CREDIT UNIONS
DULUTH,
GA (April 22, 2008) Finding a Georgia credit union
to join is now a lot easier. That's because CU Match Up,
a credit union search program is now available on Georgia
Credit Union Affiliates' Web site http://www.gcua.org.
CU Match Up is a user-friendly, web-based service that links
potential members with credit unions in Georgia and other
states that they may be eligible to join.
Users
who log onto the Affiliates website and click on "Join A
Credit Union" can search for credit unions either by clicking
on the state in a map of the United States, or by using
a pull-down menu. Site users can search in English and in
Spanish.
"We
have long looked for a multi-state approach to helping people
find a credit union," said Mike Mercer, President & CEO,
Georgia Credit Union Affiliates. "People need a central
resource to go to, more than ever before, to learn where
they can become a credit union member and start benefiting
from the lower-cost, quality services credit unions provide."
When
the user selects a state, a new screen appears displaying
that state credit union league's logo and containing fields
where visitors enter information about themselves.
Users
enter their city, county, ZIP code, the name of their employer,
occupation or school, and the city the employer is located
in. If they wish, they can also enter the name of any organizations
or associations they belong to, their ethnic background
and their religious affiliation, which may lead to more
membership options.
A new
screen displays credit unions the visitor might be eligible
to join, with a link to more information about each credit
union, including branch locations, Web site, and in some
cases, an e-mail response feature that lets the user tell
the credit union to contact him or her with membership information.
"Many
people realize the benefits of membership in credit unions;
however, they may not know if they are eligible to join
a credit union, or which credit unions are available to
them," Mercer said. "CU Match Up is an ideal way to help
those potential members."
Persons
who do not have access to the Internet can contact Roberta
McGrail at Georgia Credit Union Affiliates for assistance
in determining credit union membership eligibility and locating
credit unions 770-476-9625 or 1-800-768-4282.
